Friday Find: About Those Fancy Hats

Caitlin Hannah
June 26, 2015

I've always wondered how those fancy little (and not so little) hats favored by the Duchess of Cambridge and other Professionally Fancy ladies stay put. Magic? Witchcraft? I don't know if you know this, but the internet has an answer for just about everything.

Here and here.

Oh, man. I am so conflicted about this book. I understand why it was so popular. I largely loved it and couldn’t put it down for the first 3/4 or so. Then things veered sharply and it suddenly felt like a totally different book was grafted onto the end. SO MUCH happened in the last little bit of this book that I got whiplash. I loved the characters and the story and the sense of place that was the beginning of this book. It felt very much like a love letter to Alaska. I’m still scratching my head about the last of it. Have you read this? I am pestering my book friends about this book. I need to talk about this book. PS—Really could have done without a character named Large Marge who was the only one to be repeatedly described by the color of her skin. I’ll let you guess what color that was. #thegreatalone
